Turkish Red Crescent sends 2,737 tons of aid to Gaza in ongoing support efforts
Turkish Red Crescent sends vital humanitarian aid, including food, water, and medical supplies, to Gaza in collaborative effort
Türkiye continues its support for the Gaza Strip, with the Turkish Red Crescent leading a collaborative effort to send humanitarian aid. Another ship carrying 2,737 tons of essential supplies departed from Türkiye’s southern Mersin province for Gaza Thursday.
The ship’s departure coincided with the election rally of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Mersin province.
The aid package includes food, water, flour, clothing, hygiene products, tents, sleeping bags, blankets, shelter materials and medical supplies.
This shipment is part of Türkiye’s ongoing commitment to assist Palestine.
Turkish Red Crescent President Fatma Meric Yilmaz Türkiye stated that the aid will first reach Egypt’s Al-Arish port, which trucks will transport to Gaza.
Türkiye has been actively supporting Palestine, having already sent aid via 12 planes and six ships in previous efforts, besides significantly funding UNRWA.
The assistance comes amid ongoing conflict, with Israel launching a military offensive on the Gaza Strip following an Oct. 7 Hamas offensive.
The conflict has resulted in a significant loss of life, displacement, destruction and food shortages in the besieged enclave.
Israel is facing accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice. In a January ruling, the court ordered Tel Aviv to cease genocidal acts and ensure the provision of humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza.
