Proposed laws on energy, tourist guiding and crypto assets are set to be discussed in the Turkish Grand National Assembly in April, alongside initial talks for a new constitution among political parties
Two draft laws containing regulations in the fields of energy and tourist guiding will be on the agenda of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) in April, while parties will discuss a new constitution.
The TBMM’s General Assembly will discuss two draft laws containing regulations in the fields of energy and tourist guides.
According to the Mining Law and Law on Making Amendments to Certain Laws, which contain energy regulations, domestically produced and imported natural gas from different sources can be liquefied in Türkiye and marketed to world markets as LNG.
The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources will support projects to increase energy efficiency, with a maximum of 30% of their costs up to 15 million liras.
Renewable energy production facilities can be established without zoning plans in areas declared as renewable energy resource areas by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, excluding reservoirs and wetlands providing drinking and utility water and coastal and shoreline areas covered by the Coast Law, as well as seas, dam lakes, artificial lakes and natural lakes.
In areas where a state of emergency is declared or accepted as a disaster zone affecting the general public, temporary electricity demands will be met within the framework of determined procedures and principles to ensure uninterrupted electricity services.
Regulations on tourist guiding and travel agencies
According to the draft law on the Tourist Guiding Profession Law and Amendment of the Travel Agencies and Association of Turkish Travel Agencies Law, those who cannot fulfill the foreign language proficiency requirement can become Turkish tourist guides if they meet the acceptance conditions for another profession.
Graduates of universities’ art history and archaeology departments will not be required to attend the tourist guiding training program.
If travel agencies send their customers to a business for shopping without their knowledge and consent, and if they provide benefits to themselves or the directed person, their documents will be canceled, and they will not be able to operate as travel agencies for five years.
Draft law on crypto assets to be submitted to Parliament
The draft law on crypto assets is also planned to be submitted to the Presidency of the TBMM by the AK Party in April.
After the commission discussions, this draft will also come to the agenda of the TBMM General Assembly.
Additionally, the first discussions are expected to begin in the TBMM in April as part of the new constitution studies.
In the process of drafting a new constitution, it is planned to gather opinions from all political parties in the Assembly on which topics should be included in the constitution and to determine a general framework.
