Russian President Vladimir Putin received Numan Kurtulmus, Turkish Parliament Speaker, in a meeting at the Kremlin that lasted approximately 40 minutes.

During their discussions, Kurtulmus highlighted a productive three-day visit to Moscow, where he engaged in fruitful talks with Valentina Matviyenko, Chair of the Federation Council, and Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma.

Kurtulmus noted that the delegation had opportunities to meet with social groups, including students at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also visited the Moscow Central Mosque to engage with representatives of the local Muslim community.

Additionally, Kurtulmus mentioned a visit to the Yunus Emre Institute, where he attended an introductory class on Turkish language education for Russian media professionals.

Türkiye has multilateral ties with Russia

Reflecting on the importance of the meetings, Kurtulmus stated, “One of the most significant discussions we had was at the General Assembly of the Federation Council. We were able to briefly convey Türkiye’s perspectives. Our cooperation with Russia is characterized by exceptionally sincere and friendly relations between our leaders. It is crucial for all our state institutions to align with this collaborative spirit.”

He emphasized that Türkiye and Russia share not only commercial ties but also strong connections in energy, defense, and tourism, reaffirming similar approaches to global issues.

Emphasis on family values

Kurtulmus expressed satisfaction in confirming that Türkiye and Russia hold aligned views regarding the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, particularly in light of Israeli actions affecting the Palestinian population and regional stability.

He remarked on the closeness of the two societies regarding traditional and family values, reiterating Türkiye’s stance against unilateral sanctions.

The meeting concluded with further discussions behind closed doors, attended by Matviyenko as well.
