Turkish Parliament speaker commemorates Malcolm X’s legacy

The Speaker of Türkiye’s Grand National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmus, commemorated Malcolm X, the prominent Muslim civil rights activist, on the anniversary of his death, highlighting his enduring influence on the global struggle against racism and colonialism.
In a statement shared on social media, Kurtulmus praised Malcolm X, also known as El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz, as a symbol of humanity’s fight for justice, equality, and dignity in the modern era.
“Malcolm X proved through his own life that a single word can transform a person’s life. His thoughts and actions inspired the quest for freedom in the 20th century,” Kurtulmus said. “May his soul rest in peace, and may his place be in heaven.”
The Turkish parliament speaker specifically highlighted Malcolm X’s role in confronting racism, discrimination, and colonialism, reflecting the continued resonance of his message in contemporary international discourse.
