Turkish parliament speaker arrives in Moscow for official visit
Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus arrived in Moscow on an official visit, where he was welcomed at Vnukovo Airport by Türkiye’s Ambassador to Moscow Tanju Bilgic alongside senior Russian officials.
Among those present were Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev and Chairman of the Russia-Türkiye Interparliamentary Friendship Group Murat Hapsirokov.
Kurtulmus is accompanied by several high-ranking Turkish officials, including Deputy Speaker of Parliament Gulizar Bicer Karaca, AK Party Deputy Chairman Mustafa Elitas, IYI Party Group Deputy Chairman Bugra Kavuncu, and members of the Interparliamentary Friendship Group Murat Baybatur and Ilyas Topsakal.
Meetings and talks in Moscow
Kurtulmus’s visit comes at the invitation of Valentina Matviyenko, speaker of Russia’s Federation Council. During his time in Moscow, Kurtulmus is scheduled to hold various meetings and deliver an address to the Federation Council’s General Assembly.
While the primary focus of the visit is strengthening parliamentary relations between Türkiye and Russia, Kurtulmus is expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss bilateral relations and other key regional issues.
Strengthening parliamentary ties
This official visit is part of ongoing efforts to deepen the partnership between Türkiye and Russia through interparliamentary dialogue. Both countries have expressed interest in enhancing diplomatic and economic cooperation, particularly in the face of evolving regional dynamics.
