Turkish Parliament deputy speaker Onder suffers from heart attack

Sirri Sureyya Onder, Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and a member of the Imrali Delegation on the latest peace process in Türkiye, representing the Kurdish-oriented Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), suffered a heart attack on Tuesday evening.

A DEM Party statement confirmed that Onder experienced a serious cardiac episode on the evening of April 14 and was promptly hospitalized in Istanbul. Medical professionals carried out the necessary interventions, and his treatment is currently ongoing.

“Our Deputy Speaker and member of the Imrali Delegation, Sirri Sureyya Onder, was hospitalized this evening due to a serious heart condition. The necessary medical interventions have been carried out, and his treatment is continuing in Istanbul. His health is being followed with utmost care. Further updates will be provided as needed..

DEM Party statement

The DEM Party emphasized that Onder’s condition is being closely monitored by healthcare providers. Reports from outside his hospital indicate the situation appears to be critical.
