Turkish intelligence takes down top PKK/YPG terrorist in northern Iraq ops
Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) has successfully eliminated PKK/YPG terrorist Zilan Azak, code-named “Sema Cuya Cevlik,” during an operation in the Hakurk region of northern Iraq.
According to security sources, Azak joined the terrorist organization PKK/YPG in 2015 after abandoning her university studies.
Intelligence gathered by MIT revealed that she was actively involved in the organization’s intelligence operations, including reconnaissance, surveillance, and drone attacks targeting Türkiye.
Following a period of close monitoring, MIT executed a targeted operation in Hakurk, resulting in Azak’s elimination. She had reportedly been participating in drone attacks and conducting reconnaissance and surveillance in the region for an extended period.
Listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the U.S. and the EU, the PKK is responsible for the deaths of more than 40,000 people in its nearly 40-year campaign of terror against Türkiye. The YPG is the PKK’s extension in Syria.
