Turkish intelligence eliminates senior PKK terror group leader
Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) has eliminated the PKK terror group’s so-called “Sulaymaniyah official” in an operation in northern Iraq, according to security sources.
Omer Firat, codenamed Tolhildan, along with Iranian nationals Irfan Zendi, codenamed “Raman Renas,” and Hidayet Resuli, codenamed Cengaver Mikayil, were located in Sulaymaniyah and eliminated by an MIT air operation.
Security sources reported that, because of operations by the Turkish Armed Forces in northern Iraq, PKK members had retreated to Sulaymaniyah, which the terror group considered a safe zone.
The sources added that the countryside of Sulaymaniyah can no longer be regarded as a safe zone for the terrorist group.
In a separate incident, Turkish security forces eliminated three PKK/YPG terrorists, according to the National Defense Ministry.
The three terrorists were eliminated in the Euphrates Shield operation zone, the ministry announced on X.
Designated as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the U.S., and the EU, PKK terrorists are responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children, and babies, during their nearly 40-year insurgency against Türkiye.
The YPG is the Syrian offshoot of the PKK terrorist organization.
