Turkish House in New York hosts a cultural event titled ‘Balkan Tourism and Culture Exhibition,’ with the participation of diplomats from Bulgaria and Serbia

Turkish, Bulgarian and Serbian citizens came together during a cultural event held at the New York Turkish House.

The event, named “Balkan Tourism and Culture Exhibition,” took place at the Turkish House with the hosting of Reyhan Ozgur, the Consul General of Türkiye in New York, and the participation of diplomats and guests from Bulgaria and Serbia.

In her opening speech as the host, Consul General Ozgur thanked Melek Angelow, the Consul General of Bulgaria in New York, and Vladimir Bozovic, the Consul General of Serbia in New York, for the jointly organized event.

“Today, we have gathered not only to celebrate our unique cultures but also to celebrate our shared history, geography, and the ties that bring us closer. Your presence here is evidence of the unity existing in the Balkans, our shared geography,” Ozgur said.

Stating that the Balkans are known for their rich history, culture and natural beauty, Ozgur emphasized that this event not only showcases individual cultures but also highlights the common heritage.

Emphasizing that Türkiye, Bulgaria and Serbia are integral parts of the Balkans, Ozgur said: “Our languages may be different, but we share the same stories. The names of our foods may be different, but the tastes are the same. The steps of our dances may be different, but they are done with the same rhythm.”

During the program, guests were served delicacies from Turkish and Balkan cuisines, and dances carrying traces of all three cultures were performed.
