Turkish ‘Forrest Gump’ found dead in Istanbul

Selami Salman, a well-known figure in Istanbul’s Pendik district who was affectionately dubbed “Turkish Forrest Gump” for his extensive walks along the D100 highway, has been found dead in his home. The discovery followed his disappearance for approximately two days.

Authorities responded to the scene, including police, crime scene investigators, and medical personnel, to investigate the circumstances surrounding his passing

Medical teams confirmed that Salman had lost his life.  Police teams began a thorough investigation into the incident and sent his body to the Forensic Medicine Institution to determine the cause of death.

Salman’s life, as he walked on the D100 highway between Pendik and Maltepe for many years, attracted attention, particularly due to his personal and psychological traumas.

His mother, Medine Salman, stated that her son had psychologically deteriorated after the difficulties and head trauma he suffered in his younger years and that this situation caused him to walk on roads all the time.

Both Salman’s family and social media followers deeply regretted his death. While the police and medical teams are investigating the details of the incident, Salman’s life and death have caused great repercussions in society.
