Turkish forces eliminate seven PKK/YPG terrorists near the Turkish border in northern Syria, preventing planned attacks in the Euphrates Shield and Peace Spring operation areas
On Saturday, the Ministry of National Defense announced that Turkish security forces eliminated seven PKK/YPG terrorists in northern Syria near the Turkish border.
At the time the terrorists were eliminated, they were preparing for attacks in the Euphrates Shield and Peace Spring operation areas, according to the ministry.
The PKK – designated as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the U.S. and the EU – has been responsible for the deaths of more than 40,000 people, including women, children and infants, during its nearly four-decade campaign of terror against Türkiye.
The YPG, the Syrian branch of the PKK, is also involved in these activities.
Türkiye has conducted a series of successful counterterrorism operations since 2016 to prevent the establishment of a terrorist corridor in northern Syria and facilitate the peaceful settlement of its residents.
These operations include Euphrates Shield (2016), Olive Branch (2018) and Peace Spring (2019).
