Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan meets with Venezuelan President Maduro, discusses bilateral relations and Türkiye’s support for Palestine

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan was received by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in the capital, Caracas. Fidan conveyed President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s thanks for Venezuela’s resolute support for Palestine.

During the meeting, they discussed Erdogan’s upcoming visit to Venezuela.

Emphasizing Türkiye’s principled stance that only the people of Venezuela can decide its future, Fidan stated that they do not accept unilateral sanctions against Venezuela.

Fidan expressed satisfaction with the steps taken by the Venezuelan government to resolve conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.

The meeting also addressed economic, commercial and tourism cooperation, confirming the determination to increase the Türkiye-Venezuela bilateral trade volume with investment in strategic sectors.

Additionally, the discussions included relations in the energy sector.

Maduro stated that the relations between the two countries continue to progress, emphasizing that this visit will greatly contribute to cooperation between Türkiye and Venezuela.

Maduro said, “President Erdoğan’s stance on the Palestine issue sets an example for the whole world. His courage and advocacy for the truth for the Palestinian people are admirable.”

Maduro emphasized the need to stop the atrocities against the Palestinian people, stating that all Muslim countries, as well as Caribbean and Latin American countries, should unite their voices in defense of the Palestinian people.

It is expected that Fidan will also meet with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil and then hold a joint press conference.

Fidan is expected to move on to Mexico for further discussions after his visit.
