Turkish FM Fidan engages in high-level talks in Niger
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan attended a joint working meeting in Niamey, Niger, chaired by Prime Minister Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry’s official X account shared, “Our Minister Hakan Fidan, along with Minister of National Defense Yasar Guler, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Director of National Intelligence Ibrahim Kalin, President of Defense Industries Haluk Gorgun, and Deputy Minister of Trade Ozgur Volkan Agar, participated in a joint working meeting in Niamey led by Niger’s Prime Minister Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine.”
Diplomatic sources had indicated Fidan’s visit to Niger would focus on enhancing bilateral political and economic relations, as well as exploring opportunities for collaboration and diversification in this regard. Discussions also encompassed current developments in the Sahel region and regional issues such as the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Fidan also met with Niger’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Nigeriens Abroad Bakary Yaou Sangare, during his visit to Niamey.
