During the meeting, Fidan is expected to emphasize the importance of achieving a “just and lasting peace” to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

FM Fidan will also raise the issue of lifting sanctions on Syria, arguing that full removal of international restrictions is necessary to support the country in rebuilding “a stable and prosperous governance structure.”

He is expected to underscore the importance of international cooperation in aiding Syria’s recovery.

Gaza and the two-state solution

Regarding the situation in Gaza, Fidan will reiterate Türkiye’s position that “establishing two states is the only viable solution for peace in Palestine.” He will also emphasize that “the international community must take action to stop Israel’s activities that threaten regional security and stability.”

In addition to geopolitical issues, the two ministers will discuss strengthening military and defense industry cooperation between Türkiye and the Netherlands.

According to the source, Fidan will highlight how expanding defense collaboration would “further contribute to the already strong economic ties between the two countries.”

Fidan is also expected to express Türkiye’s hope for “closer cooperation with the Netherlands in counterterrorism efforts.”

The Turkish Foreign Ministry confirmed the meeting in a statement, stating, “H.E. Caspar Veldkamp, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, will pay a working visit to Türkiye on 11 March 2025.”
