Turkish Minister of National Defense Yasar Guler has once again called on the PKK terrorist organization and its various affiliates operating under different names and regions to disband immediately and unconditionally surrender their weapons.

Speaking at an iftar event with the families of killed and veterans, Guler emphasized the critical need for the PKK and its affiliates to cease their activities, warning that any actions or statements countering this demand would have no place in the ongoing efforts.

PKK, affiliates must surrender their weapons

Guler made it clear that all factions of the PKK, regardless of their geographical location or the names they operate under, must take decisive steps toward disbandment.

“The terrorist organization PKK and all its affiliates, regardless of where they are or the names they use, must immediately make the decision to disband and unconditionally lay down their arms. Any statement or action to the contrary will have no consequence,” he stated.

He further outlined that the government would not allow the PKK or its affiliates to exploit current developments to rebuild or replenish their ranks. “We will not allow PKK and its affiliates to benefit from current developments to reorganize, recover their significant losses, or sabotage this positive process,” Guler affirmed.

Commitment to protecting families of killed veterans

During his speech, Guler paid tribute to the families of killed soldiers and veterans, recognizing their sacrifices for the nation.

“You have shown unparalleled resilience in the face of unimaginable losses, demonstrating steadfastness and loyalty. You are the pride of the Turkish nation and the Republic of Türkiye’s spiritual architects. Our state and the great Turkish nation are grateful to you,” Guler said.

Guler acknowledged that combating terrorism has been a long-standing priority for the nation. “We have lost many sons in this fight, and many have returned as veterans. But we have never backed down from our honorable struggle for the homeland,” he remarked.

He expressed that the bravery and sacrifices of martyrs and veterans remain a source of inspiration for the Turkish Armed Forces.

Unwavering resolve to counterterrorism

Minister Guler emphasized the role of Turkish soldiers, especially the Mehmetcik (Turkish soldiers), in defeating terror and ensuring security.

He stated, “Throughout history, in every mission, the hero Mehmetcik has done his duty until the last drop of his blood, and continues to do so today.”

He added that the current stage marked a new era in the fight against terrorism, stressing that terrorist organizations must comply with disarmament and cease their operations.

“The terrorist group PKK, along with its affiliates operating under different names, must immediately make the decision to disband and unconditionally surrender their weapons. Any contrary statements or actions will have no consequence,” Guler declared.

Guler assured that the government is carefully monitoring the situation. “We will not allow PKK and its affiliates to exploit any positive developments, rebuild their forces, or undermine this process,” he said.

The minister reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to a terror-free future under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“Under the leadership of our president, we will continue to fulfill our responsibilities in achieving a Türkiye free of terrorism. We will remain steadfast in ensuring that the sacrifices made by our heroes are honored and protected.”
