Turkish Defense Minister Guler marks Pakistan National Day in Ankara

Minister of National Defense Guler underscores the enduring friendship and strategic partnership with Pakistan at the Pakistan National Day celebration, emphasizing commitment to further strengthen bilateral cooperation

National Defense Minister Yasar Guler attended the Pakistan National Day celebration in a ceremony held on April 4.

Minister of Trade Omer Bolat, Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Ahmet Yildiz, AK Party Deputy Chairman and Bursa Deputy Efkan Ala, and Chief of the General Staff General Metin Gurak also attended the ceremony.

The ceremony began with the recitation of the Quran, followed by the national anthems of both countries and then proceeded to an iftar dinner.

Guler conveyed greetings and respects to the people of Pakistan and delivered President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s regards. He paid tribute to the martyrs and veterans who fought for Pakistan’s independence and integrity.

Guler highlighted Pakistan’s strategic significance both regionally and globally, emphasizing recent developments and adding that the country has strengthened its role in building peace, stability, and trust worldwide.

Guler also expressed Türkiye’s sincere satisfaction with Pakistan’s endeavors, emphasizing the special place Pakistanis hold in the hearts of the Turkish people, now and in the future.

‘We have supported each other in most difficult times’

Underlining the deep-rooted friendship and brotherhood between Türkiye and Pakistan, based on shared values and unwavering ties, Guler continued: “These longstanding bonds between our countries pave the way for multifaceted cooperation and high-level relations, shaping our common future. We are two brotherly countries that have supported each other in the most difficult times, shared joys and sorrows, and embraced common ideals.

The fact that our countries rushed to each other’s aid in the face of painful events and natural disasters once again demonstrates the strength of the unity between our nations.”

Guler expressed that they see Pakistan as one of the most reliable partners in international relations and attach great importance to the excellent level of relations between the two countries in all fields.

He noted the increasing momentum in bilateral relations in recent years and stated their determination to further strengthen these relations with greater and more comprehensive cooperation.

‘New and comprehensive collaborations’

Guler highlighted military cooperation and the defense industry as the forefront of these collaborations, stating, “the high synergy and experience-sharing demonstrated in defense industry projects open the door for new and comprehensive collaborations. We see our mutual trust and support as the greatest guarantee for our cooperation to grow even further in the future.”

Underlining their determination to develop strong ties with Pakistan and to act together for regional and global peace and stability, Guler concluded, “We wholeheartedly believe that the friendship and brotherhood between Türkiye and Pakistan will continue strong from eternity to eternity.”
