Turkish defense industry firms gain ground globally
The Turkish defense industry continues its upward trajectory on the global stage, with several firms making significant strides in the Defense News Top 100 2024 List.
Minister of the Turkish Secretariat of Defence Industries, Haluk Gorgun, announced the news, highlighting the presence of five Turkish companies in the top 100 and two in the top 50.
‘We will work day and night’
In his social media post on X, Haluk Gorgun expressed pride in the achievements of Turkish defense firms: “Our journey to the top continues with 5 companies in the top 100 and two companies in the top 50. Our numbers are increasing, our rise continues, our power is growing, our influence is felt…”
“Our defense industry companies, which are a reflection of our national power, continue their rise in the global arena at full speed. We will work day and night to make this rise in the Defense News Top 100 sustainable,” Minister Gorgun said.
Gorgun also celebrated MKE by saying: “I would also like to congratulate the Machinery and Chemical Industry, which entered the list for the first time this year, and congratulate our companies that continue their rapid rise in the list. Our goal is much higher.”

- ASELSAN: 42nd
- TUSAŞ: 50th
- Roketsan: 71st
- Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi (MKE): 84th
- ASFAT: 94th
Top global defense firms
The top 10 positions in the list were dominated by companies from the United States, China and the United Kingdom:
- 1st: Lockheed Martin (U.S.)
- 2nd: Aviation Industry Corporation of China (China)
- 3rd: RTX (U.S.)
- 4th: Northrop Grumman (U.S.)
- 5th: General Dynamics (U.S.)
- 6th: Boeing (U.S.)
- 7th: BAE Systems (U.K.)
- 8th: China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (China)
- 9th: China North Industries Group Corporation Limited (China)
- 10th: L3Harris Technologies (U.S.)
