Turkish coast guard detains 62 irregular migrants in 2 Aegean operations
A total of 62 irregular migrants, including 26 children, were detained in two separate operations off the coasts of Cesme and Bodrum.
In the first operation, which took place off the coast of Cesme in Izmir, the Turkish Coast Guard Command intercepted a rubber boat carrying 41 irregular migrants, including 17 children.
The coast guard responded after reports indicated the presence of the migrants, and a vessel was dispatched to the area. The migrants were detained and handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management.
In the second operation, which took place off the coast of Bodrum in Mugla, the coast guard stopped a rubber boat carrying 21 irregular migrants, including nine children.
The Coast Guard Mobile Radar (MORAD-15) detected the boat, prompting an immediate response from the coast guard team. The migrants, all of foreign nationality, were detained and transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management.
