Turkish boycott market boasts 4,000 items, zero Israeli goods
In Sanliurfa’s Karakopru district, a group of eight friends has taken a stand against the perceived injustices in Palestine by opening a market that exclusively sells local products, explicitly avoiding Israeli goods. This initiative reflects growing local activism and consumer choices driven by geopolitical concerns.
‘Israeli products are not sold here’
The market, officially named the Palestine Solidarity Market (FIDAM) Boycott Shopping Center, was launched approximately five months ago. Upon entering, customers are greeted with a sign that clearly states, “Israeli products are not sold here.” This market is a tangible expression of protest against the situation in Palestine.
We wanted to respond to the genocide initiated by Israelis in Palestine. We brainstormed what we could do as citizens and decided to create a space that reflects our boycott stance. We’ve proven that it is possible to run a successful market with entirely local products

Products and impact
The market offers around 4,000 different items, all sourced from Turkish suppliers. Mehmet Burak Korkmaz, the market manager, noted that customers appreciate the assurance that their purchases do not support Israeli products. He stated, “Our customers prefer us because they do not want to buy Israeli goods. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.”
Customer Ramazan Sagir expressed his support, saying he shops at the market specifically to participate in the boycott of Israeli goods. The initiative has garnered praise from local consumers who are thankful for this option.
