Turkish Bayraktar drone production facility planned in Mongolia
A new production plant for Bayraktar drones, developed by Türkiye’s Baykar, will be constructed near Mongolia’s capital, Ulaanbaatar, according to Mongolian Minister of Defense Byambatsogt Sandag and media reports.
The announcement was made during the official visit of Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa to Türkiye.
Baykar to establish drone facility near Ulaanbaatar
Mongolia’s Defense Minister Byambatsogt Sandag revealed in an interview with the 25 TV channel that construction of the facility would soon begin.
The plant will produce Bayraktar drones, a flagship product of Baykar, which is known as one of the world’s largest manufacturers of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Sandag added that Türkiye’s Minister of National Defense, Yasar Guler, will attend the opening ceremony of the plant.
Strategic visit strengthens defense cooperation
During his visit to Türkiye, Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa toured the Ozdemir Bayraktar National Technology Center, where Baykar’s advanced technological products are developed.
He was hosted by Baykar’s Chairman of the Board, Selcuk Bayraktar, who provided insights into Türkiye’s innovative defense projects.
The visit was attended by Baykar CEO Haluk Bayraktar and Türkiye’s Presidency of Defense Industries head Prof. Dr. Haluk Gorgun. Discussions included strengthening defense ties and exploring strategic partnership opportunities between the two countries.
Strategic partnership agreement signed
President Khurelsukh also met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at Bestepe, where the two leaders signed a strategic partnership declaration.
Over ten agreements covering various fields were signed during the visit, emphasizing the shared goals of Türkiye and Mongolia.
Baykar’s statement on the visit
Baykar shared a statement on social media following the visit, stating, “We were honored to host His Excellency Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, President of Mongolia, and his delegation at the Ozdemir Bayraktar National Technology Center.”
The establishment of the production facility in Mongolia marks a significant step in deepening defense cooperation between the two nations and reflects Türkiye’s expanding role in the global defense industry.
