Turkish Airlines announces 15% family discount under ministry initiative

Türkiye‘s Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas announced that Turkish Airlines (THY) will provide families with a 15% discount on travel until the end of the year as part of the Family Year initiative.

Although not mentioned in the ministry’s statement, it is expected that only Turkish citizens will benefit from the new initiative. The ministry also did not elaborate if the campaign will be effective in external flights.

Maximum 9 family members can benefit from Turkish Airlines discount

Minister Goktas shared that within the scope of the campaign announced as “Family Discount” on the Turkish Airlines website, at least three, and a maximum of nine passengers with the same surname, who are listed in the same reservation record, will benefit from a 15% discount.

In a statement, Minister Goktas said, “The ‘Vision Document and Action Plan for the Protection and Strengthening of the Family’ has been created and put into action.”

She emphasized that the action plan includes steps to protect the family structure and values and that throughout Family Year, activities in collaboration with all ministries and relevant stakeholders will be monitored by the Ministry of Family and Social Services.

Minister Goktas highlighted that they continue to work towards increasing the “Welfare Level of Families” and improving the “Effectiveness of Family-Focused Social Policies and Services.”

She said, “As part of our 2025 Family Year goals, we are implementing discount programs that will provide economic benefits to our families. As a result of the discussions we held with Turkish Airlines, families will receive a 15% discount throughout the 2025 Family Year.”

Türkiye’s national flag carrier Turkish Airlines has been recognized as the safest airline in Europe for 2025 with a prestigious seven-star rating from AirRatings.com.

According to a press release from AirRatings.com on Jan. 12, Turkish Airlines was ranked among the top 10 safest full-service airlines worldwide. This distinction makes it the only European airline on the list, highlighting its exceptional safety standards and operational excellence.

Globally, Air New Zealand, the flag carrier of New Zealand, claimed the top spot, followed by Australian airline Qantas and Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific. Renowned carriers from the Gulf region, Qatar Airways and Emirates, shared third place with Cathay Pacific.
