The Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Unal Ustel, emphasized that citrus producers will breathe a sigh of relief with the convergence of water from Türkiye with agricultural areas and the completion of a cold storage facility in Guzelyurt, stating, “We are carrying out major projects with the support of our homeland, Türkiye.”

Ustel, speaking at the briefing session of the Guzelyurt Cold Storage and Integrated Facilities, attended by Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz, reminded that they have been using water from Türkiye since 2015, first for drinking water and later for irrigation.

Stating that they have completed the first three stages of the project to supply water to agricultural lands, Ustel said that the fourth stage will be completed next year.

Ustel explained that they have implemented a long-awaited large cold storage project for citrus producers that have been in the region since 1974.

Highlighting that with the convergence of water from Türkiye with all agricultural areas and the completion of the cold storage facility, citrus producers will breathe a sigh of relief, Ustel stated, “We are carrying out major projects with the support of our homeland, Türkiye. I express my infinite gratitude to the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Vice President Mr. Cevdet Yilmaz for their support. The support of our homeland, Türkiye, in every field is very precious to us.”

Ustel announced that the project regarding the Guzelyurt State Hospital, which no government has ever dealt with in the region, will be put out to tender on Monday, noting that with its opening, both the people of the region will receive on-site health services and the burden on the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoglu State Hospital in Lefkosa will ease.

Ustel added that they continue their efforts to build health centers in many regions, and when the projects are completed, the public will experience relief in terms of health services.
