Sweden plans $7.01B military aid for Ukraine over three years
Announced on Wednesday the Swedish government and its support party have agreed on a framework for giving Ukraine more military aid worth $7.01 billion spread over three years.
Newly minted NATO member Sweden supports Ukraine with aid. Last month, Sweden decided to deploy troops to Latvia for European defense against potential Russian aggression and continues to provide military aid to Ukraine.
“To enhance Sweden’s support for Ukraine and provide a long-term perspective, the government and the Sweden Democrats have agreed to establish a framework for military aid to Ukraine for the years 2024-2026,” the statement continued.
Over the course of three years, 75 billion crowns will be distributed equally. Sweden intends to provide Ukraine with more than 100 billion crowns in military and other assistance when this addition is made.
According to the statement, financial contributions, defense equipment donations, and financial aid for the purchase of defense equipment are all possible forms of military support under the new framework.
“The framework may impose a burden on public finances for several years, and even beyond 2026,” it stated.
