Suspected Daesh member plotting terrorist attack arrested in Gaziantep, Türkiye
Security forces in Gaziantep apprehended a suspected member of the Daesh terrorist organization believed to be planning a terrorist attack in Türkiye.
The counterterrorism branch teams conducted technical and physical surveillance on the suspect, identified as A.C.K., prior to the arrest. The operation was carried out by the Gaziantep Provincial Gendarmerie Command in coordination with the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspect’s links to Daesh terrorist organization
Authorities said that the foreign national suspect had crossed into Türkiye illegally. The investigation conducted by the local authorities uncovered evidence suggesting the suspect was active in armed operations within the Daesh terrorist organization in Syria between 2015 and 2016.
A.C.K. was located and detained at his hideout during the operation. The suspect has been taken into custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated.
Officials did not provide further details as the investigation is ongoing.
