Due to heavy snowfall across Türkiye, education was suspended on Wednesday in four cities and several districts in three others.

Heavy snowfall is set to disrupt daily lives in many cities in Türkiye, including Istanbul.

Türkiye’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure announced Tuesday that hundreds of flights will be canceled across Istanbul from Feb.19 to 21 due to expected snowfall.

In a statement, the ministry said that Istanbul Airport’s (IST) capacity will be reduced by up to 15% on Feb. 19 and by 20% on Feb. 21. “Considering that Turkish Airlines operates an average of 1,000 flights daily, approximately 150 flights are expected to be canceled on Feb. 19, while around 200 flights will be canceled on Feb. 21,” the statement read.

Snowfall caused disruptions in many cities in central Anatolia.
