Ruling AK Party continues to fall behind main opposition CHP in popularity: Poll

The Di-En Research company surveyed on March 12, involving face-to-face participation from 2,956 individuals across 16 provinces. Respondents were asked, “If a general election were held this Sunday, which party would you vote for?” The results have revealed some notable trends.
Key poll results:
- Main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP): 33.7%
- Ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party): 30.9%
- Kurdish-oriented Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party): 9.6%
- Nationalist Movement Party (MHP): 8.7%
Support for other parties:
- Zafer Party (Victory): 4.4%
- Yeniden Refah Party (New Welfare): 4.2%
- IYI Party (Good Party): 3.7%
- Turkish Workers’ Party (TIP): 1.4%
- Other parties: 3.4%

Shifting polls toward CHP
According to a report compiled by IstanbulAnalytics, the ruling AK Party had narrowly been ahead of the CHP in polls over the past three months.
However, the February 2025 surveys showed a shift in favor of the main opposition CHP, and the trend became even more pronounced in the latest March polling.
Research results from SONAR Research, which were initially distributed only to VIP members, have also been leaked. These results indicated a dramatic drop in support for the AK Party, while the CHP’s votes have been steadily increasing each month.
SONAR Research leaks: A closer look
HalkTV further revealed that SONAR’s exclusive research showed significant shifts in public opinion. If a general election were held today, the CHP would surpass the AKP by 3.7 points. The breakdown of the poll is as follows:
- CHP: 34.8%
- AK Party: 31.3%
- DEM Party: 7.9%
- MHP: 7.3%
- Zafer Party: 6.6%
- IYI Party: 6.4%
- New Welfare Party: 3.7%
- Other parties: 1.9%
This survey showed that the CHP is leading with 34.8% of the vote, while the AK Party trails at 31.3%. DEM Party stands at 7.9%, and MHP follows with 7.3%.
