Roketsan to establish joint defense production facility in Indonesia

Türkiye’s state-owned defense contractor Roketsan has signed an agreement with Indonesia to establish a joint defense production facility, company CEO Murat Ikinci confirmed during the 2025 Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
The agreement marks a significant step in Türkiye’s broader strategy to collaborate with allied nations not only through exports but also through joint development and manufacturing in the defense sector.
“Türkiye’s defense industry cooperation is not just about selling products,” Ikinci said. “We offer our allies the opportunity to develop defense technologies together.”

Facility to produce anti-ship missiles and smart munitions
The joint facility, to be developed with an Indonesian defense partner, will manufacture a range of systems including anti-ship missiles, cruise missiles, and advanced smart munitions.
The partnership also includes plans for technology transfer, local infrastructure development, and training programs for Indonesian engineers and technicians.
“This cooperation provides an opportunity not only to expand Türkiye’s industrial capabilities, but also to help partner countries strengthen their own defense ecosystems,” said Ikinci.

Diplomacy Forum facilitates strategic agreements
Held under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and hosted by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, the Antalya Diplomacy Forum continues to serve as a major platform for Ankara’s international outreach.
Ikinci noted that Roketsan’s participation in the forum enabled direct dialogue with numerous heads of state and defense ministers. Among them was Indonesia’s president, with whom the company finalized discussions on the joint production project.
“We are aiming to rapidly expand our international collaborations to boost Türkiye’s defense exports,” he said.

Ankara’s expanding defense footprint
The partnership aligns with Türkiye’s increasing emphasis on defense diplomacy through co-production, technology sharing, and training.
By offering long-term industrial partnerships, Türkiye seeks to grow beyond traditional defense exports and establish strategic ties in regions such as Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
