President Erdogan expresses his hopes for a blessed Ramadan, stating, ‘May the month of Ramadan bring mercy, forgiveness, and liberation from the fires of hell for the Islamic world and our nation’

On Sunday night, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the country’s top cleric, Ali Erbas, shared messages marking the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Erdogan expressed his wishes for the holy month of Ramadan, saying, “I hope that Ramadan, starting with mercy, progressing to forgiveness, and ending with liberation from the fires of hell, will bring blessings to the Islamic world and our nation.” He added, “May we all have a blessed Ramadan.”

Erbas, the head of Türkiye’s Religious Affairs Directorate, called upon the global Muslim community to pray for an end to the suffering of people worldwide, particularly emphasizing the plight of those in Gaza and East Turkistan.

“Let us make the most of the merciful atmosphere of Ramadan by praying to Almighty Allah to bring an end to the suffering, systematic atrocities, torture, and oppression in various parts of the world, especially in Palestine and East Turkestan,” he remarked.

First lady Emine Erdogan also congratulated the Turkish nation and the Islamic world on the month of Ramadan.

In a post on her social media account, Emine Erdogan stated, “We have reached the Noble Ramadan, a season of purification and renewal, a festival of love and mercy, a fountain of grace and forgiveness. May the blessings and abundance of this sacred month envelop all humanity and bring an end to the tears of all the oppressed and afflicted. I congratulate our nation and the entire Islamic world on the month of Ramadan.”

During Ramadan, Muslims traditionally abstain from food, drink, smoking, and intimacy from sunrise to sunset.

Throughout this fasting month, Muslims are encouraged to engage in additional prayers, particularly during the night, recite the Quran, give to those in need, and avoid wrongdoing.
