President Erdogan announces a major housing initiative in Hatay, aiming to deliver thousands of homes to earthquake victims by end of the year

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Hatay on Saturday, detailed an ambitious housing initiative on Saturday aimed at supporting regions affected by the Feb. 6 earthquakes in 2023.

The president announced the phased delivery of 40,000 homes, currently in the construction phase, ensuring they reach rightful owners promptly upon completion.

Erdogan shared a robust target of delivering 75,000 houses within the earthquake zones over the next two months, further committing to a major milestone of distributing 200,000 homes by the end of the year.

Highlighting the government’s proactive measures, Erdogan stated, “We will fulfill our promise to finish the constructions within a year, aiming to hand over 200,000 homes by year-end.”

Seeking to reassure citizens amid recovery efforts, Erdogan affirmed the government’s dedication to upholding citizens’ rights and welfare.

”Our citizens can rest assured. They should trust their state and us. No one’s rights will be left unclaimed, and no one will be left aggrieved,” he asserted.

Addressing the broader challenges facing the nation, Erdogan emphasized a determined stance against potential threats, including natural disasters, security concerns, and economic uncertainties.

“As we march towards our goals, we are determined to overcome potential threats including earthquakes, terrorism, and economic traps, one by one,” he remarked.

In a testament to the ongoing relief operations, Erdogan disclosed, “Following thorough assessments, the total number of beneficiaries across the earthquake-affected region is confirmed at 390,000.”

Marking a significant milestone in the housing initiative, he announced: “Today in Hatay, we are presenting keys to the homes of 7,275 beneficiaries, comprising 6,572 in our urban and district centers, and 703 in rural localities.”
