President Erdogan to visit opposition party headquarters for first time in nearly two decades

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is poised to embark on a significant diplomatic gesture on Tuesday as he prepares to visit the headquarters of Türkiye’s main opposition party CHP, marking his first such visit in 18 years.
Erdogan’s forthcoming presence at the CHP headquarters underscores a notable shift in political dynamics, symbolizing a potential thaw in relations between his ruling AK Party and the opposition.
The impending visit follows a series of diplomatic exchanges initiated by Erdogan and CHP leader Ozel, aimed at fostering a climate of reconciliation and cooperation between their respective parties.
Notably, Erdogan’s decision to extend a pardon to seven generals convicted in connection with the 1997 ‘postmodern coup’ stands as a tangible outcome of their initial meeting.
