President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will travel to the U.S. on Saturday for the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly. Erdogan will address the world on the first day of the general assembly.

It has been learned that Erdogan will hold diplomatic meetings with many world leaders, and his speech is expected to include historic messages, especially on the issue of Palestine.

Erdogan is expected to emphasize the need for increased international pressure on Israel through the U.N., call for Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations, and encourage more countries to recognize Palestine.

Erdogan will stress that an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is essential for peace and stability.

Last year, Erdogan urged all nations to recognize the independence of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) during his speech at the 78th U.N. General Assembly. It is anticipated that he will touch on this topic again this year.

In his previous 13 speeches at the United Nations, President Erdogan consistently brought up global issues with the phrase “The world is bigger than five,” advocating for reform in the international system. Erdogan is expected to address the need for such reforms again at this year’s session.

The 79th session of the U.N. General Assembly, with high-level participation from 190 countries, will open on Sept. 22 with the “Summit of the Future.” The week of high-level discussions, featuring speeches from world leaders, will begin on Sept. 24. It is reported that Erdogan will be the third speaker on the first day.

During his time in New York, Erdogan is also expected to meet with various heads of state and government to exchange views on critical issues, especially concerning Gaza. Additionally, he is anticipated to meet with business leaders in the U.S.
