President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Jordan’s Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II on Tuesday at the presidential complex in Ankara, the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye reported.

Closed-door meeting with Jordanian delegation

The meeting, attended by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, was held behind closed doors.

No immediate details were provided regarding the discussions between Erdogan and Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, who is the eldest son of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan.

According to a statement from the Republic of Türkiye Directorate of Communication, Erdogan emphasized the deep-rooted ties between Türkiye and Jordan and underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination between the two countries.

The discussions also covered regional and global developments, including the situation in Gaza.

Erdogan reaffirmed Türkiye’s stance that any plan to forcibly relocate Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt, Jordan, or other third countries is “unacceptable.” He also highlighted the urgency of rebuilding Gaza and called for immediate action to support reconstruction efforts.

Bilateral relations, regional cooperation

Türkiye and Jordan maintain strong diplomatic ties, frequently engaging in dialogue on regional stability and cooperation. Both nations are actively coordinating efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza amid ongoing conflict in the region.

Recently, Erdogan and other Turkish officials expressed opposition to proposals that would relocate Palestinian civilians to Egypt, Jordan, or other third countries, calling such plans “unacceptable.”

Ongoing diplomatic engagements

Jordan has played a key role in mediating discussions in the Middle East, and its leadership continues to advocate for Palestinian rights. Türkiye, similarly, has been vocal in calling for a ceasefire and humanitarian assistance for civilians in Gaza. During the meeting, Erdogan and Crown Prince Al Hussein agreed on the importance of enhancing bilateral relations and maintaining unity in supporting Palestine.

Both leaders reiterated their commitment to collaborating on humanitarian initiatives and diplomatic solutions to regional crises.
