During the meeting where Sweden’s NATO membership process, the fight against terrorism, Türkiye-Sweden relations and regional and global issues were discussed, President Erdogan emphasized the importance of cooperation especially on security
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a telephone conversation with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
According to a post on the social media account of the Republic of Türkiye Directorate of Communications, the NATO membership process of Sweden, the fight against terrorism, Türkiye-Sweden relations and regional and global issues were discussed during the call.
President Erdoğan expressed his belief that Sweden will fulfill its obligations arising from the trilateral memorandum in accordance with the spirit of alliance after Türkiye’s membership to NATO.
President Erdogan said that the two countries should start operating the Security Cooperation Mechanism and that it is important for Sweden to provide the necessary support to Türkiye in the fight against terrorism.
