President Erdogan inaugurates Ahlat commando battalion post in Bitlis
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited Bitlis on Sunday to commemorate the 953rd anniversary of the Malazgirt victory. During his visit, he officially inaugurated the newly established Ahlat Commando Battalion Command.
Senior state officials attended the ceremony. Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz, Minister of National Defense Yasar Guler, and top commanders of the Armed Forces were present. Nationalist Movement Party Chairman Devlet Bahceli also attended the event. Ali Erbab, head of Religious Affairs, and Erol Karaomeroglu, governor of Bitlis, were also present at the ceremony.
After the opening ceremony, President Erdogan closely inspected the new command and received detailed information about the facility from Minister Guler. Erdogan emphasized the command’s strategic importance.
The new facility will play a critical role in the security of the region and the defense of the country. The opening of the Ahlat Commando Battalion Command is considered part of Türkiye’s strategy to strengthen its military presence in the eastern region.
