Following U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks praising Türkiye and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a White House meeting with ambassadorial nominee Tom Barrack, speculation has emerged regarding a potential visit by Erdogan to the United States.

President Erdogan, speaking to journalists after the ruling Justice and Development Party’s (AK Party) group meeting in Ankara, was asked whether he had any plans to travel to the U.S. in the near future. In response, he simply stated, “Inshallah” (God willing), without providing further details.

While no official confirmation has been made, Erdogan’s brief yet suggestive remark has sparked discussions about the possibility of renewed diplomatic engagement between Ankara and Washington.

Given recent developments, including Barrack’s nomination as the U.S. ambassador to Türkiye and Trump’s positive comments about Türkiye’s leadership, a high-level visit could signal efforts to strengthen ties between the two NATO allies.

At the White House meeting on Wednesday, Tom Barrack expressed his pleasure in working with Trump and thanked him. Barrack described Türkiye as “one of the oldest civilizations.”

According to CNN Türk’s U.S. correspondent Yunus Paksoy, President Trump responded to Barrack’s remarks, saying, “It’s a good country, and its leader is good.”
