Erdogan calls for global action against Israel’s violations during high-level meetings

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is actively participating in high-level diplomatic discussions at the 79th U.N. General Assembly in New York. Throughout these engagements, Erdogan has underscored the urgent necessity for global action, particularly from the Islamic world, to address Israel’s violations of human rights and international law.
On Monday, he met with International Criminal Court (ICC) Prosecutor Karim Khan, where he condemned Israel for “committing genocide in Gaza” and criticized the Israeli PM Netanyahu for its blatant violations of international law.
Erdogan expressed concern that Israel operates under the misguided belief that no force can stop its atrocities, indicating plans to escalate the violence.
During the meeting, Erdogan presented Khan with the “Evidence” and “Witness” books from the Turkish state-run news agency Anadolu, which comprehensively document Israel’s actions in Gaza and serve as critical evidence of alleged war crimes.
First meeting with Iranian President
In a separate engagement, Erdogan held his first meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, marking a significant diplomatic encounter following Pezeshkian’s election after the tragic death of former President Ebrahim Raisi in May.
President Erdogan told his Iranian counterpart that it is ‘important’ to take steps to serve peace against ‘Israeli aggression that threatens regional security’.
‘It’s critical to step up efforts’
Additionally, Erdogan met with Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, emphasizing the need for enhanced collaboration between Türkiye and Kuwait across various sectors, including the economy and defense industry.
In an interview with al-Sabah, he stated, “It is critical for all of humanity to step up their efforts,” asserting that “Israel will sooner or later be held accountable for its crimes before the law.”
Meeting with Germany’s Scholz
On the other hand, President Erdogan received German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
President Erdogan’s reception of Scholz was closed to the press.
President Erdogan’s meetings in New York continue as he participates in the 79th U.N. General Assembly.
