Positive meetings between MHP, AK Party and DEM Party conclude

The Kurdish-oriented Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party’s (DEM Party) delegation continued its rounds of meetings with political parties at the Turkish Parliament on Monday.

The delegation first met with the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) before holding a subsequent meeting with the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party). In the first statement from AK Party, it was noted that “It was a sincere, friendly conversation.”

The AK Party delegation, led by Group Chairman Abdullah Guler, included Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala, Party Spokesperson and Deputy Chairman Omer Celik, and Group Deputy Chairman Ozlem Zengin. The DEM Party delegation, on the other hand, included co-chairs Tulay Hatimogullari and Tuncer Bakirhan, Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Istanbul MP Sirri Sureyya Onder, and Group Deputy Chairman Gulistan Kilic Kocayigit.

The AK Party delegation welcomed the DEM Party delegation at the door. The meeting, closed to the press, lasted approximately two hours.

DEM Party’s first visit of the day was to MHP

The DEM Party delegation visited the MHP group in parliament first. MHP Deputy Chairpersons Semih Yalcin, Feti Yildiz, and Ismail Faruk Aksu greeted the DEM Party delegation at the door.

The closed-door meeting was held in the MHP group meeting room and lasted about one hour. The chairman of the MHP, Devlet Bahceli was not able to make meeting despite expressing his desire to do so.

Following the meeting, Hatimogullari and Yalcin made a statement. Hatimogullari commented, “We held a meeting regarding the process that developed after Abdullah Ocalan’s call. We will make a detailed statement after completing all our meetings today. We thank the MHP delegation for hosting us. Mr. Devlet Bahceli would have been present in today’s meeting had his health permitted. However, due to health conditions, we met with the delegation he authorized. We once again wish him a speedy recovery.”

MHP Deputy Chairman Semih Yalcin also expressed that the meeting was productive and thanked the DEM Party delegation for the visit.

AK Party: ‘We shared our evaluations on recent developments’

After the meeting, AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Guler spoke to the press, stating, “We had a very sincere and friendly conversation. We shared our evaluations on recent developments. I would like to thank the esteemed co-chairs, Mr. Sirri and Ms. Gulistan. There will be more detailed evaluations in the future. We are leaving now for our Central Decision and Executive Board meeting. We will make further evaluations later.”
