Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan meets Ismail Haniyeh, the political bureau chief of Hamas, according to Turkish diplomatic sources

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a crucial meeting with Ismail Haniyeh, the political bureau chief of Hamas, according to Turkish diplomatic sources Saturday.

The discussions encompassed a broad spectrum of pressing issues, primarily focusing on establishing a cease-fire in Gaza.

The diplomatic discourse also delved into strategies for amplifying humanitarian aid efforts, addressing the release of hostages and contemplating a two-state solution as a viable pathway toward achieving lasting peace in the region.

The backdrop to these diplomatic efforts is the relentless series of air and ground attacks launched by Israel on Gaza.

This offensive was triggered by a cross-border incident involving the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, which Israel claims resulted in the deaths of 1,200 individuals.

Since then, Palestinian health authorities have reported a staggering toll of at least 24,927 deaths, predominantly among women and children, with an additional 62,388 people sustaining injuries.
