Police capture fugitive Nurlan Zharimbetov in Istanbul operation
Interior Ministry announces the arrest of Kazakh fugitive Nurlan Zharimbetov who was on the wanted-list on charges of ‘fraud and theft’ with red and yellow notices by INTERPOL
The Istanbul Provincial Security Directorate’s Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch is continuing to coordinate efforts between the Intelligence Directorate and the Department of Smuggling and Organized Crime of the General Directorate of Security to locate wanted individuals.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that Nurlan Zharimbetov, wanted by Kazakhstan on charges of “fraud and theft” with red and yellow notices, was arrested in Istanbul during the “Mahzen-27” operation.
Yerlikaya shared the news on his social media account, stating: “I would like our esteemed nation to know that, regardless of the magnitude of the crime and regardless of the notice issued, we will not allow international organized crime syndicates and drug traffickers to disturb the peace of our people. We will deliver each one of them to justice. I congratulate our heroic police officers who carried out the operation. May Allah protect them. The prayers of our nation are with you.”
The operation, led by the Istanbul Provincial Security Directorate’s Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch, successfully captured Zharimbetov, who was wanted for his alleged involvement in fraud and theft activities.
Zharimbetov’s arrest is part of Türkiye’s ongoing efforts to combat transnational crime and ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
