Poland expresses readiness to host nuclear weapons
Polish Prime Minister Andrzej Duda announced that NATO could deploy nuclear weapons to his country to strengthen the alliance’s eastern flank
Polish President Andrzej Duda stated that Poland is “ready” to host nuclear weapons on its territory if NATO decides to strengthen the eastern flank. Duda stated the readiness during the Warsaw-Washington talks on atomic sharing.
Highlighting the Russian threat, Duda said, “Russia is increasingly militarizing the Königsberg oblast (Kaliningrad). It has been relocating its nuclear weapons to Belarus.”
Duda disclosed that discussions on nuclear sharing between Poland and the United States have been ongoing “for some time.” In his assessment of the matter, Duda said, “I’ve already talked about this several times. I must admit that when asked about this issue, I declared that we are ready.”
Addressing the possibility of Donald Trump being reelected as president of the United States, Duda stated, “He is a politician with whom I directly cooperated with the United States for four years when he was president of the United States.”
Expressing his fondness for Trump, Duda said, “I want to emphasize very strongly that we have been friends since then. I really like talking to him because he is an extremely interesting personality and has a lot of experience, both political and business.”
