Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus welcomed an International Turkic Culture Organization (TURKSOY) delegation at the Parliament on March 21, Nevruz Bayrami (Spring Festival).
Kurtulmus highlighted the significance of March 21st as a celebration of the “spring festival,” “Nevruz,” and “new day” across the vast Turkish geography for centuries.
He described March 21st as a festivity marking the awakening from winter, the beginning of a new day, the arrival of spring, abundance, prosperity, and the revival of beautiful human traits.
Pointing out the recent resurgence in the Turkic world, Kurtulmus highlighted the establishment of the Turkic States Organization (TURKSOY) as a significant community and the role of the Turkish States Parliamentary Assembly in fostering closer ties between parliaments.
He also emphasized the important role TURKSOY plays in promoting cultural cooperation among Turkic states and the dissemination of Turkish culture.
“As the Turkish world has consolidated in recent years, the development of the Turkic States Community and the increase in their commercial, economic, political, technological, and cultural collaborations serve as a significant guarantee for world peace,” Kurtulmus remarked.
Wishes for liberation of oppressed nations
“We express our hopes for the world to overcome the problems it faces on this new day,” Kurtulmus said, highlighting the challenges that various oppressed and distressed nations worldwide are enduring.
“From Gaza to East Turkestan, we hope for the elimination of the injustices, oppressions, and suppressions taking place across vast territories. We hope for the unity of the human community around humanitarian values, with the understanding that all humans are equal in creation, to come together and resolve these issues,” he added.
Kurtulmus also condemned the atrocities suffered by Palestinians due to Israel’s attacks, affirming Türkiye’s solidarity with the Palestinian people.
“We stand by the Palestinians against the savagery in Palestinian territories, and we want to reiterate that what is happening is indeed savagery,” he stated.
“As people of the Turkic world, we will continue to stand in solidarity and cooperation with oppressed nations across the globe,” Kurtulmus added.
The delegation visit and Kurtulmus’s statements underscore the significance of March 21st as a day of celebration, reflection, and solidarity for the Turkic world and humanity as a whole.
The reception was held at the Turkish Parliament and attended by TURKSOY Secretary-General Sultan Raev and cultural and art ambassadors from member countries.
