Parliament Speaker Kurtulmus set to attend 10th MIKTA meeting
The MIKTA meeting in Mexico is set to discuss global and regional issues, including trade for sustainable development and human rights in international migration
The Speaker of the Parliament, Numan Kurtulmus, will attend the 10th MIKTA (Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Türkiye, Australia) meeting planned for May 6 -7, 2024, in Mexico.
The meeting will address regional and global issues. Following the meeting, a joint statement will be issued on behalf of Türkiye, Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, and Australia.
Dialogue channels will be enhanced, and critical issues such as war and migration will be addressed.
Emphasis will be placed on parliamentary diplomacy in these meetings, with the world’s biggest problems such as war and migration on the agenda.
An exchange of views will be held on global and regional issues.
During the visit, bilateral and inter-parliamentary relations with these countries will also be discussed, and an exchange of views on global and regional issues will also take place.
The Parliamentary Speakers Meeting will be held under the theme of “The joint activities of parliaments to build a more peaceful, equal and just world.”
Sessions titled “Trade as a Tool to Enhance Sustainable Development and Shared Prosperity” and “International Migration and Human Rights” will be held at the summit.
It is expected that Speaker Numan Kurtulmus, who will speak at the sessions, will also chair the session on migration.
Furthermore, a joint statement by MIKTA parliamentary speakers will be issued after the meeting.
Kurtulmus will also meet with Marcela Guerra Castillo, the Speaker of the Mexican Chamber of Deputies, after the meeting.
