Palestinian President Abbas extends ‘open invitation’ to main opposition leader Ozel
Main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Ozgur Ozel recently spoke with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who extended an open invitation for Ozel to visit Palestine.
During their conversation, Abbas expressed his gratitude for the CHP’s consistent support of the Palestinian cause and invited Ozel to observe the situation of Palestinians firsthand.
Palestinian leader Abbas had addressed the world from the Turkish Parliament on August 15. Ozel apologized for missing Abbas’ address to the Turkish Parliament due to an accident and reaffirmed the CHP’s unwavering support for a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He also mentioned his efforts to raise awareness of the Palestinian plight through international engagements, including letters to world leaders and discussions on the Gaza massacres.
‘Open invitation’ for Ozel
Abbas acknowledged the CHP’s historic backing and praised Ozel’s advocacy on the global stage, referring to him as “a window to the world.” He reiterated that Ozel is welcome to visit Palestine at any time.
“I invite you to Palestine, your second country. You can come on any date you choose, you can closely follow the situation of your Palestinian brothers and sisters. This invitation is an open invitation,” Abbas said.
