Over 200 detained in nationwide anti-terror sweep targeting separatist network in Türkiye
Türkiye’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the detention of 222 suspects in the “Gurz-8” operations conducted across 36 provinces targeting a separatist terrorist organization in the country.
In a social media statement, Yerlikaya declared: “I want our esteemed nation to know that we will not allow terrorists any room to maneuver. Through the relentless efforts of our security forces, we will continue our fight with unwavering determination until the last terrorist is neutralized, ensuring the peace, unity and solidarity of our nation.”
Yerlikaya confirmed the detention of 222 suspects during the “Gurz-8” operations and added:
The suspects were found to have engaged in various activities, including membership in the armed terrorist organization, planning to join its rural ranks, past involvement in organizational activities, spreading terrorist propaganda via social media, financing terrorism, collaborating with the group, acting as couriers, participating in the organization’s European network, evading finalized prison sentences, and being listed as wanted individuals. During the operations, authorities seized unlicensed firearms, shotguns, significant amounts of foreign currency and Turkish lira, as well as numerous digital materials and organizational documents.
