Istanbul’s foreign resident population surpasses 1M

There are 1.87 million foreigners in Istanbul, with over half a million being Syrians, according to official figures from the Directorate of Migration Management.

The Directorate of Migration Management urged the public to disregard “speculative posts that do not reflect the truth.”

As of today, Istanbul’s foreign population includes 530,612 Syrians under temporary protection, 3,252 individuals under international protection, and 553,153 residents with residence permits.
