Opposition leader Erbakan claims ruling AK Party blackmails mayors to transfer them
Fatih Erbakan, leader of the opposition Prosperity Again Party, has accused the ruling AK Party of political blackmail, alleging that some of his party’s mayors are being targeted for transfer.
Erbakan condemned these actions, stating, “It is neither politically nor morally acceptable to disregard the will of our nation as expressed on March 31.”
In his statement, Erbakan emphasized that “the mayors and municipal council members elected from our party in the March 31, 2024, local elections are facing blackmail tactics from the AK Party government.”
The AK Party quickly responded to Erbakan’s accusations. Party spokesperson Omer Celik stated, “Those who speak of political ethics and blackmail should first consider these concepts themselves. The Prosperity Again Party is trying to cast doubt on mayors who have freely chosen to join the AK Party’s politics of service and achievements.”
