Number of suspects detained in connection with Besiktas fire rises to 9

Authorities detain nine in connection with the tragic fire at an entertainment center in Besiktas, Istanbul, which claimed the lives of 29 people

The number of suspects detained in connection with the fire that resulted in the death of 29 people at an entertainment center undergoing renovation beneath a 16-story building in Besiktas has risen to nine.

Police teams are continuing their investigation into the fire at the entertainment center on Gonenoglu Street, Gayrettepe Yildiz Posta Avenue, on the building’s basement 1st and 2nd floors.

While three suspects have records for “intentional injury,” one has for “sexual harassment,” and another one for “buying, possessing or using drugs for personal use,” “Violation of the Firearms Law,” and “intentional injury.”

Meanwhile, two individuals rescued from the fire are treated at the hospital.
