Ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) spokesperson Omer Celik Monday reaffirmed the AK Party’s stance against allowing so-called elections under terrorist organization PKK protection in northern Syria.

“We will not permit the establishment of a terrorist state,” he maintained.

He made the statement following the AK Party’s Central Executive Committee meeting, emphasizing key points from the discussions.

‘We will not allow a terrorist state’

He expressed concerns over YPG and PYD elements in northern Syria seeking local elections, which the AK Party opposes vehemently. Celik underscored ongoing initiatives to counter such efforts, emphasizing that allowing elections under the guise of combating Daesh could lead to the creation of a terrorist state and escalate regional instability.

Recognized as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the U.S. and the EU, the PKK is responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children and babies, during its nearly 40-year campaign of terror against Türkiye.

YPG is PKK’s offshore in Syria.

Regional matters, Israel

Regarding recent developments in the region, Celik criticized the Netanyahu administration, accusing it of escalating genocide through recent attacks. He condemned Netanyahu’s actions as aimed at provoking a regional conflict, including efforts to extend hostilities to Lebanon.
