Following the soil collapse in a mine in Erzincan, Governor Hamza Aydogdu said that the government would take necessary steps if any deficiencies or faults are identified

Following the soil collapse in a mine in Erzincan, which left nine miners trapped, Erzincan Governor Hamza Aydogdu said on Tuesday that the government would be taking necessary steps if there is any deficiency or fault while emphasizing that the current priority of the government is to reach the citizens trapped underground.

“Should the government discover any deficiency or fault, it will undoubtedly take the requisite measures,”  Aydogdu told journalists at the location of the incident.

“Our top priority at the moment is to reach the citizens trapped underground as soon as possible,” he said.

Aydogdu urged citizens to rely on official sources for accurate information and stated, “The important thing now is to quickly reach the citizens trapped underground and to bring them out safely. That’s why we will provide all the necessary information. We have seen the soil collapse on both the right and left sides.”

The governor added that all teams are currently taking necessary measures, while teams from the capital are on their way.

Mentioning the leakage question, Aydogdu reassured the public, saying, “Currently, there is no leakage of cyanide. If there were, we would inform you. There is no leakage into the Euphrates River.”

The Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Batuhan Mumcu, AK Party Erzincan Deputy Suleyman Karaman, CHP Erzincan Deputy Mustafa Sarıgül, and Erzincan Mayor Bekir Aksun were present at the scene.

Minister of the Interior Ali Yerlikaya and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar are en route to the city, asserted Aydogdu, who further emphasized that every state resource has been mobilized.
