Nearly 4,500 fugitives captured in nationwide operation in Türkiye
Turkish forces apprehended 4,491 fugitives wanted for various crimes in the “Circle-21” operations conducted across the country over the past five days, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said Monday.
Yerlikaya’s social media statement revealed that over the course of five days, operations targeted individuals with outstanding arrest warrants in all 81 provinces.
Yerlikaya found that among those captured, 4,455 had been on the run for up to five years, 19 for five to 10 years, and 17 for more than 10 years.
The operation led to the capture of 690 individuals wanted for theft, 291 for fraud, 130 for extortion, 118 for murder, 128 for sexual offenses, 860 for narcotics-related crimes, 26 for terrorism-related offenses, and 400 for smuggling and organized crime.
Minister Yerlikaya stated, “The net is tightening around fugitive criminals,” emphasizing that have brought these fugitives to justice.
“Our noble nation should know that we will never allow fugitives to roam the streets. We won’t let them disturb our families. I commend the governors, district governors, provincial gendarmerie commanders, provincial police chiefs, coast guards, and all the police and gendarmerie officers involved in the operations. The prayers of our nation are with you,” Yerlikaya said.
